Hi, I'm Matt Delprado.
but most people I work with call me DP.
I’m a Design Team Leader. These days I do a mishmash of UX, Service & Product Design with some strategy in there too. But I started my career crafting pixels and kerning headlines.
With over 15 years of experience designing and building things for the web and mobile devices, I’ve weaved from design to development, back to design through to Art Direction, then UX Design and Service Design. When I couldn’t settle on any one of these, I began running teams that do all of the above. It turned out that designing teams was just as rewarding as designing things.
Mixing the time spent as a developer through to years as client facing Creative Director, I’m in a good position to understand the making of things, right from the messy question of “What should we make?” to the pointy “is this the right way to phrase the error message?” parts at the end of a project.
I have learnt that nothing gets done well until everyone is pointed in the same direction, so I believe that every designer should have skills in presenting, project methodologies, meeting facilitation, project scoping and stakeholder management.
My brush with fame was on TV once, talking about a startup that made toilet paper you could print tweets on that I created with some friends. My mum was very proud.
